Indianapolis, IN, September 27, 2005 --
Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL) is sending resources to the Gulf Coast to assist in restoration efforts following Hurricane Rita. The crews and resources will be assigned to Entergy to help restore electricity to thousands of customers out of service following the hurricane that hit Saturday morning.
IPL crews are scheduled to leave from IPL’s Morris Street Facility (1230 W. Morris St.) at 6 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 28. The 30 personnel are expected to report to staging areas in either Beaumont, TX or Lake Charles, LA, to begin work Friday morning.
As with IPL crews sent to help with restoration efforts following Hurricane Katrina, these crews are scheduled to assist efforts for about two weeks. At that point, IPL crews will be replaced with new workers if Entergy requests continued assistance.
Indianapolis Power & Light Company provides retail electric service to approximately 460,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in Indianapolis, Indiana, and other central Indiana communities.
