 2017 Happy Holidays

Employees of Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL) donated time and treasure throughout the month of December to ensure the people in the communities where we live, work and serve are supported this holiday season.

We were able to put together a total of 169 baskets, which included items such as fleece blankets, canned food, household items including dish soap and laundry detergent, and games. These baskets were distributed to some of our partner organizations, including:

  • Mary Riggs Neighborhood Center
  • Shepherd Community
  • Fletcher Place Community
  • John Boner Community Center

This year, we also added Indianapolis Public School System's Global Prep Academy to our list. We've developed a relationship with this school over the past few years through a mentorship program, called IPL Power Pals, where a handful of employees are paired up with students of Global Prep Academy to meet bi-weekly to work on homework and other development activities. We were able to surprise the students one day while they were celebrating "Culture Day" with the whole school. After cheering them on in the crowd, we surprised our mentees with 12 holiday baskets--the joy and excitement was priceless, and it was fulfilling to see how impactful these baskets are to families.
