IPL cares about our community and recognizes the impact and stress COVID-19 is causing in people’s daily lives. We are determined to continue delivering the reliable power you rely on, while helping to protect the health and safety of our people, neighbors and community.

Below, please find the latest information on how IPL is responding to the situation. IPL recommends that customers take safety precautions and follow guidance from the CDC and Indiana Department of Health. We will continue to publish information on this page as the situation evolves. You can also follow IPL on Twitter and Facebook.

  • During stressful situations such as the coronavirus pandemic, scammers and cyber criminals come out of hiding. IPL has received reports that scammers are calling local residents and demanding payment within 30 minutes or service will be disconnected. THIS IS A SCAM. As noted below, IPL has currently suspended disconnection of service. Learn how to protect yourself at IPLpower.com/scam.
  • IPL will not disconnect any customer’s service for non-payment, in order to give customers experiencing financial hardship extra time to make payments. We will continue to read meters and send bills. Customers should pay what they can to avoid building up a large balance that will be difficult to pay off later.
  • IPL's Customer Service Center located at 2102 N. Illinois Street is temporarily closed to the public. EZ-Pay kiosks located outside the building continue to be available for customers.
  • IPL has directed employees who are not involved with power generation, power delivery or other critical functions to work from home, where possible.
  • IPL technicians will continue to respond to power outages and other emergencies.
  • Company technicians will continue to complete service orders – such as new electric connections and requested disconnections.
  • If technicians need to interact with customers in-person, such as in an emergency, they will follow the U.S. Centers for Disease Control’s safety guidelines, including social distancing.
  • Services that are not urgent or time-sensitive, but require in-person customer contact by IPL employees or contractors, will be rescheduled. We will contact customers to reschedule appointments, and we thank you for your patience and understanding.
  • IPL’s customer service team is available to serve customers by phone. We anticipate increased call center demand and request that customers consider using self-service service options when possible.
  • Customers can perform nearly all customer service functions online and through IPL’s automated voice phone system.
